When Roberto Sebelén, amateur magician and father of Reynold Alexander, played with his young son by pulling coins out of his ears, little did he know the impression it would leave on Reynold.
At barely 8 years old, the destiny of Reynold Sebelén Medina would have been set. His father’s game changed the course of his life forever and it was on that precise moment that Reynold Alexander was born to the world. It was from his father’s guidance that he learned his first magic acts, which quickly grew into his lifelong passion.
That is how at 13 years of age, he became a member of the Society of Young Magicians (S.Y.M.), a worldwide society that unites young magicians. Reynold became president of the Puerto Rican chapter, but not before being the two-time First Place winner for “Stage Magic,” the most prestigious award from this society.
The acquired experience and exposure received during his years in S.Y.M. opened for Reynold a new world of possibilities, and he was initiated into S.A.M. (Society of American Magicians), the most prestigious magicians’ society.
In 1995, at the age of 17, while a special guest at the annual S.A.M. convention, Reynold accomplished an impeccable performance of his art, positioning himself before his peers all over the world as the undisputable magician for his generation.
Reynold Alexander put all his energy and efforts into the pursuit of perfection in all the various branches and categories of magic: stage & manipulations, close-up, and illusions, being the best of what he is known for. His adventurous and inquisitive spirit took him full blast to the world of one of his biggest inspirations: the legendary Harry Houdini. Fascinated with the life and death of the man who is considered the best magician ever, Reynold started a very serious approach to the dangerous art of escapes.
Throughout the years, his shows have evolved equally as the evolution of Reynold the human being. His studies and experiences have united to bring you a very special style and approach to his performances. He studied psychology and drama at the University of Tampa, Florida where he prepared various shows for the students at the Campus Theater.
Back in Puerto Rico, he decides to dedicate his life to the stage, making the passion of his dreams into his profession. Thanks to it he has cultivated the applause, admiration and the sympathy of his audience throughout the world.
Throughout his magical career, he has performed at the prestigious Art Museum in Ponce, all mayor Hotels in the island and has appeared as special guest at all mayor n national Puerto Rican television shows and newspapers featuring his magic.
Outside his beloved island of Puerto Rico, audiences from the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, United States, Sweden and Holland, to name a few, have enjoyed his energetic and charismatic performance. Among his professional accomplishments, we can find The Vanishing of Puerto Rico’s Capitol Building; this event was transmitted on national television in September 2005. Also before a full house at the very prestigious Centro de Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico he successfully recreated the famous Houdini’s “Chinese Water Torture Cell” escape act in which Houdini lost his life. Let’s not forget that Reynold is the current Guinness World Record holder for the fastest strait jacket escape.
Recently Mr. Alexander accomplished one of the most dangerous feats in all Magic by catching a signed bullet fired from a .357 Magnum with his teeth. Also, Mr. Alexander has been a featured performer at the very prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood.
Reynold Alexander is an illusionist that never quits being that child whose his father pulled coins out from his ears, every time he gets a chance he goes back to his childhood and give other kids a smile.
Therefore is not uncommon to see him sharing his time with less fortunate kids at the San Jorge Children’ Hospital, Hogar Niñito Jesus, Ronald McDonald’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
“With Magic and Illusion there are no limits, laws of physics are broken to make the impossible possible.” Reynold Alexander.
